Israir Launches New York Flights Amidst Growing Competition

Israeli airline Israir is set to launch direct flights to New York City starting September 15, shortly after the Rosh Hashanah holiday. Initially, the airline will operate three flights per week on this new route. By the end of October, Israir plans to significantly increase its service to a daily flight schedule.

This expansion marks Israir's entry into the competitive U.S. market, adding another Israeli carrier alongside El Al and Arkia that offers direct flights to New York. The move comes as American airlines Delta and United have also resumed flights to Israel, intensifying the competition for passengers traveling between the two countries.

For travelers, Israir's new route provides an additional option for direct travel to one of the most sought-after destinations in the United States. The airline anticipates that pricing will be a key factor for passengers, with round-trip tickets during the holiday season starting at approximately $1,900 per person. After the holidays, the expected price will decrease to around $1,600 per person.

Israir also intends to acquire a third wide-body aircraft to support its long-haul operations and further expand its network to destinations such as Japan and Thailand. The airline's increased presence on the New York route, especially with the planned daily flights, is expected to further boost competition and offer Israeli travelers more choices for comparing prices, dates, and flight frequencies.
