Israir Sells $8 Million in Tickets for New York Route in Hours
Israeli airline Israir announced that its new route to New York will launch next week, and demand has been exceptionally high. Ticket sales opened on Sunday at 2 PM, and within just a few hours, the company reported bookings totaling approximately $8 million.
The initial ticket sales were staggered, first offering flights until the end of September, then extending to November, and now available through March 2027. Despite the increased capacity, prices remain high, with round-trip tickets during the holiday season costing between $800-$900. Flights around Yom Kippur are priced even higher, reaching about $2,300 for economy class.
The airline's management noted that the strong demand for flights to the United States continues to outpace supply, preventing any significant price reductions. This surge in bookings follows the recent return of American Airlines carriers Delta and United Airlines to the Tel Aviv-New York route. Within a single week, the number of airlines operating between Tel Aviv and New York has increased from two to five.
