Israir Launches New York Flights Amidst Airline Competition

Israeli airline Israir has announced the commencement of ticket sales for its new route connecting Tel Aviv and New York City, following the acquisition of all necessary permits from both Israeli and US authorities. The inaugural flight from Tel Aviv to John F. Kennedy International Airport is scheduled for September 15, with the return flight on September 17. Initially, the company had anticipated a later start date of October 19, pending the completion of bureaucratic procedures.

During the upcoming fall holiday season, one-way ticket prices are expected to range between $800 and $900. The flights will be operated using wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft.

Israir's entry into the US market intensifies competition with existing carriers. Currently, El Al serves New York, Newark, Los Angeles, and Miami, while Arkia also operates flights to New York. American carriers Delta and United are set to resume their services from New York and Newark this month, respectively. American Airlines, however, has indicated it will not return to Israel until spring 2027.
