North Israeli Man, 19, Charged With ISIS Membership

Channel 13Center
Translated & summarized from Channel 13 by baba
The story · English

An indictment was filed Monday against Yaakov Shabli, a 19-year-old resident of the Lower Galilee village of Shabli - Umm al-Ghanam, for joining a terror organization. Shabli allegedly identified with ISIS, swore allegiance to the group, and consumed its propaganda.

Shabli was arrested last month by the Northern District's Central Unit and the Shin Bet security agency. This is the fourth indictment in recent days against residents of northern Israel for identifying with the Islamic State.

About a week and a half ago, it was reported that indictments would be filed against a 16-year-old from the Galilee and a 19-year-old from Haifa. Both allegedly swore allegiance to ISIS and planned attacks on the Temple Mount and an IDF base in northern Israel.

The investigation into the 16-year-old revealed he viewed terror content and searched for instructions on making explosive belts, intending to attack police and soldiers at the Temple Mount.

A few days after the teenager's arrest, Ibrahim Kaabiya, a 19-year-old from Haifa, was arrested on suspicion of also swearing allegiance to ISIS. His investigation indicated he planned an attack on an IDF base in northern Israel.
