Northern Israel Resident Charged with ISIS Membership
A fourth indictment in recent days has been filed against a resident of northern Israel on charges of identifying with and joining the ISIS terrorist organization. Yaakov Shibli, a 19-year-old resident of the town of Shibli in the north, was arrested on August 16th. Following an investigation by the Northern District's Central Unit and the Shin Bet security agency, it was revealed that Shibli expressed identification with ISIS, viewed content about the organization, and swore allegiance to it.
The Northern District Prosecutor's Office, represented by attorney Marina Rosenfeld, filed the indictment for joining a terror organization at the Magistrate's Court in Nof HaGalil-Nazareth. The police and Shin Bet stated they will continue to act against Israeli citizens involved with terrorist organizations and activities that endanger national security.
This case follows similar indictments against other northern residents in recent days for alleged ties to ISIS, highlighting ongoing security concerns.
