Israeli Man Charged with Planning to Join ISIS and Train for Combat

Prosecutors have filed an indictment against Khamis Suaed, a resident of Husniya in the Galilee in his 30s, who allegedly expressed identification with the Islamic State (ISIS) and trained with the intention of joining the terrorist organization abroad. Suaed was arrested in recent weeks following a joint operation by the Galilee District Central Unit of the Northern District Police and the Shin Bet security agency.

Investigators discovered that Suaed watched instructional content on combat, weapons use, and the production of drones and missiles for terrorist purposes. He reportedly saved money and trained for combat with the goal of joining ISIS.

The indictment was filed against him in the Haifa Magistrate's Court, along with a request for his detention until the legal proceedings are concluded. The Shin Bet and police stated that they are determined to combat any activity that endangers the state's security and its citizens, particularly when Israeli citizens attempt to act on behalf of terrorist organizations against Israelis. They vowed to continue their efforts to thwart such activities.
