Ex-IDF Soldier Arrested for ISIS Sympathies and Combat Training
An Israeli man, identified as Khamis Suaed, in his 30s and a resident of Husniyya in the Galilee, has been arrested on suspicion of identifying with the Islamic State (ISIS) and training to join its ranks. The arrest was the result of a joint operation by the Northern District Police's Galilee region intelligence unit and the Shin Bet security agency over the past few weeks.
On Wednesday, the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against Suaed at the Magistrate's Court in Haifa, also requesting his detention until the legal proceedings conclude. Suaed, a former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier, allegedly studied professional training materials focused on combat tactics, weapons use, and the construction of missiles and drones.
Security officials emphasized that the Shin Bet and Israel Police are committed to thwarting any activities by Israeli citizens who seek to act on behalf of terrorist organizations and endanger the security of the state and its citizens. The investigation is ongoing.
