IDF Launches Major Surprise Attack Drill Near Eilat

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) commenced a large-scale military exercise named "Kedmat Homah" (Front of the Wall) on Monday in the Eilat region and along the eastern border. The drill, conducted by Division 80, focuses on preparing for surprise attacks and escalation scenarios, incorporating lessons learned from the events of October 7th.

All forces within Division 80 are participating, alongside units from the Air Force and Navy, and in cooperation with additional security agencies. This exercise follows closely on the heels of a surprise readiness test, "Dawn's Dawn 2.0," ordered by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, which evaluated the military's ability to respond to complex, simultaneous threats without prior warning.

The current exercise shifts the focus to the southern and eastern fronts, specifically testing Division 80's capacity to handle extreme scenarios and provide a rapid response to surprise attacks and escalations. The IDF emphasized that the exercise is pre-planned and there is no concern of an actual security incident.

Residents and visitors in the Eilat area and along the eastern border can expect increased activity from security forces, vehicles, aircraft, and naval vessels throughout the drill.
