IDF Simulates Surprise Attack in Large-Scale Drill Near Eilat
A large-scale security forces exercise, led by the 80th Division, is set to commence tomorrow in the Eilat and Arava region. Increased activity by security forces, aircraft, and naval vessels will be noticeable in the area starting today. The drill will simulate various scenarios, including surprise attacks and incursions into Israeli territory from the air, sea, and land.
The exercise will test the defense of communities and the city of Eilat, alongside the forces' readiness and the utilization of air and naval capabilities for regional defense. It will also practice cooperation between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israel Police, and Magen David Adom (MDA), as well as inter-branch collaboration between ground forces, the Air Force, and the Navy.
This drill is part of an ongoing effort to enhance fitness and readiness, incorporating lessons learned from recent combat and security events. A similar exercise was conducted last week in the Golan Heights, focusing on readiness for complex surprise attacks. The Eilat drill was scheduled in advance as part of the Operations Directorate's training plan for 2026.
