Ged Dairy Recalls Camembert Cheese Over Listeria Contamination
Ged Dairy has issued a recall for its "Camembert - Ripe Cheese with White Mold 33% Fat" product after the French manufacturer discovered Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The company is urging consumers who purchased the 130-gram packages, with batch number BFBN and an expiration date of September 7, 2026, not to consume it.
The affected product is imported into Israel by Ged Dairy and manufactured by SASSO FROMAGERIES COMTOISES. The recall is being conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Health's Food Service.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause illness, particularly in high-risk groups such as individuals with weakened immune systems, the elderly, and pregnant women, potentially leading to miscarriages. Ged Dairy stated it will collect the recalled products from distribution channels.
This incident follows a similar event in 2025, where the Ministry of Health's Food Service suspected the presence of listeria-causing bacteria in meat products from Delicatesse Artisanale, leading to the removal of various pastrami, sausage, corned beef, and roast beef products from shelves.
