Health Ministry Recalls Camembert Cheese Over Listeria Contamination
Israel's Ministry of Health has issued a recall for a specific batch of "Gad" brand Camembert cheese due to the presence of Listeria bacteria. The affected product is a 130-gram package of ripe Camembert cheese with white mold and 33% fat, bearing an expiration date of September 7th. Consumers who possess this product are urged to refrain from consuming it.
The Listeria bacteria were detected during testing by the French manufacturer of the cheese, Sasot Patouragis Comtoise. Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause illness, particularly in high-risk populations such as the elderly, individuals with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women, in whom it can lead to miscarriages.
The Ministry of Health stated that the dairy company, Gad, will collect the recalled products. They apologized to the public for the inconvenience and assured that they are cooperating fully with relevant authorities to ensure product quality and safety.
