Health Ministry Recalls Camembert Cheese Over Listeria Contamination
Israel's Ministry of Health has issued a recall for Gad Dairy's Camembert cheese due to the detection of Listeria bacteria. The affected product is a 130-gram package of ripe Camembert cheese with white mold and 33% fat, bearing an expiration date of September 7th. Consumers who possess this product are urged to refrain from consuming it.
The Listeria bacteria were identified during testing by the French manufacturer of the cheese, Sasot Freres Comtois. Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause illness, particularly in high-risk populations such as the elderly, individuals with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women, in whom it can lead to miscarriages.
Gad Dairy will be collecting the recalled products. The Ministry of Health apologized to the public for any inconvenience caused and stated that they are working in full cooperation with relevant authorities to ensure product quality and safety.
