Israeli Dairy Giant Recalls Camembert Cheese Over Listeria Risk
Gad Dairy, a prominent Israeli dairy producer, has issued a recall for a specific batch of its ripened Camembert cheese due to the potential presence of dangerous Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The affected product is the 130-gram Camembert cheese with 33% fat, white mold, bearing the expiration date of September 7, 2026, and batch number BFBN.
The recall was initiated after the manufacturer's French supplier detected Listeria in the product. This bacterium can cause a serious illness, particularly in high-risk groups such as individuals with weakened immune systems, the elderly, and pregnant women, where it can lead to miscarriages.
Consumers are strongly advised to avoid consuming the identified cheese. Gad Dairy is coordinating this product recall with the Food Service at Israel's Ministry of Health.
