Bnei Sakhnin Player Attacked After Match in Netanya, Police Arrest Four Suspects

Bnei Sakhnin player Iyad Abu Abid recounted an attack he and his pregnant wife endured after their match against Maccabi Netanya. According to Abu Abid, dozens of local fans recognized him by his team jersey, surrounded his car, threw objects, and attempted to harm both him and his wife. He described the incident as nearly catastrophic, prevented only by his quick escape. Abu Abid criticized the police for not intervening despite their presence at the scene. He later filed a police report and emphasized his focus on family recovery following the traumatic event.

The police announced the arrest of four suspects, including two minors and two adults, on suspicion of attacking players and fans and damaging vehicle windows. The minors were questioned and banned from attending football matches, while the adults were brought to court for detention extension requests. Bnei Sakhnin also reported attacks on player Ilai Hajaj's car and another vehicle carrying club supporters. The club condemned the violent incidents as severe and alarming, potentially endangering lives.

Maccabi Netanya publicly denounced the violence, stating that such behavior is unacceptable and does not represent the conduct of their loyal fan base. Abu Abid noted a recent rise in racism and attacks against Bnei Sakhnin players and fans but affirmed that these assaults will only strengthen their commitment to the club and their performance on the field.
