Bnei Sakhnin Defender Eyad Abu Abid Attacked After Match in Netanya

Eyad Abu Abid, the defender for Bnei Sakhnin, was assaulted by a small group of Maccabi Netanya fans after Monday's match at the Miriam Stadium. Abu Abid shared the incident on his Instagram, condemning the behavior as "disgusting" and expressing frustration over the lack of safety despite police presence. His car was damaged during the attack, and Bnei Sakhnin confirmed that the incident also involved the vehicle of teammate Ilai Hajaj and another car carrying club supporters, including a medical student. Abu Abid, 31, who began his career at Maccabi Netanya in the 2014/15 season and later played for several Israeli clubs, was not a participant in the 0-0 draw against Netanya.

The club issued a statement expressing deep concern over the serious incident occurring just meters from the stadium. They noted that Abu Abid's pregnant wife was in the car during the attack and that he tried to avoid confrontation. Abu Abid was later summoned by police to provide testimony and clarify the circumstances. Bnei Sakhnin called for a thorough investigation by Israeli police to identify and prosecute those responsible, emphasizing that there is no place for violence inside or outside football venues.
