Bnei Sakhnin Defender Eyad Abu Abid Attacked After Match in Netanya

Eyad Abu Abid, a defender for Bnei Sakhnin, was assaulted by a small group of Maccabi Netanya fans after the match at the Miriam Stadium on Monday evening. Abu Abid shared the incident on his Instagram, condemning the behavior as "disgusting." His car was damaged in the attack, and the club also reported that the vehicle of teammate Ilai Hajaj was targeted. Abu Abid, 31, who began his career at Maccabi Netanya in the 2014/15 season and later played for several Israeli clubs, was not active in the match, which ended in a 0-0 draw between Bnei Sakhnin and Maccabi Netanya.

Bnei Sakhnin issued a statement expressing deep concern over the serious incident that occurred just meters from the stadium. The club noted that Abu Abid's pregnant wife was in the car during the attack. Abu Abid tried to avoid confrontation but was later stopped by police and summoned for questioning the following day. The club also mentioned that a car carrying Bnei Sakhnin fans, including a medical student, was attacked. The club called on the Israeli police and relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the events, identify those responsible, and ensure they face legal consequences. The statement emphasized that there is no place for violence inside or outside football stadiums in Israel.
