Yeguen Ansah Joins Beitar Jerusalem on Two-Year Deal

Beitar Jerusalem signed former M.S. Ashdod striker Yeguen Ansah on Monday morning to a two-year contract. The 31-year-old Ghanaian forward will initially be registered as a foreign player, but he is already in the process of obtaining Israeli citizenship and is expected to receive it within the next two months.

Ansah became a free agent immediately after Ashdod were relegated to the National League, which allowed him to negotiate with Beitar. The club said he can play across all attacking positions, as a centre forward or on either wing, and his salary is expected to be 250,000 euros per season.

Ansah is Beitar's fourth signing of the summer. After signing, he said on the club's official website, "I am very, very excited to have the opportunity to join a big club like Beitar Jerusalem. Thank you for the trust of the professional staff and management. I am looking forward to coming out to Teddy and giving everything for the club, Yalla Beitar."

Beitar kept the move quiet because it believed that if other major clubs realized Ansah could count as an Israeli player, his market value would rise sharply. The yellow and black side finalized a two-year deal with him over the weekend, and he is due to report Tuesday for the squad's first training session of the season, along with Noam Motsa and Daniel Worku. Because Ansah will first be registered as a foreigner, Beitar can still sign only one more foreign player before the January transfer window, meaning it must choose carefully while also filling key midfield and striker roles with Israeli players.
