Beitar Jerusalem Optimistic Ghanaian Striker Eugene Ansah May Gain Israeli Status

Beitar Jerusalem is expressing optimism regarding the potential for Ghanaian striker Eugene Ansah to be classified as an Israeli player rather than a foreign one. Ansah, who recently scored in a match against Hapoel Haifa, has indicated positive developments on this front. The club is taking steps to have the player, who arrived this past summer, no longer count as a foreign player for the remainder of the season.

Ansah recently obtained a work permit, a significant development for the Jerusalem-based club. With this permit, the club can now apply for him to become a temporary resident, similar to the case of player Ali Mohamed. Following the Yom Kippur holiday, CEO Kfir Edri will submit the application. If approved, Ansah would not be counted as a foreign player.

Previously, when Ansah played for MS Ashdod, a request for citizenship was denied. However, Beitar Jerusalem believes this new application, submitted after the elections in late October and before January, will be successful. Ansah, 31, first came to Israel in 2017 and has played for several Israeli clubs, including a stint in the MLS. He joined Beitar Jerusalem this summer on a two-year contract with an option and has become a key player, starting the last four league games and scoring two goals.
