Beitar Jerusalem Secures Two Key Signings, Including Long-Term Target Ori Azu

Beitar Jerusalem is finalizing a double signing, bringing in Alexis Serrano from Colombian club Deportes Tolima and Ori Azu on loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv, with an option to buy. Almog Cohen, who has pursued both players, sees Serrano as a significant midfield addition and Azu as a much-needed winger with excellent dribbling skills. Cohen has been tracking Azu since his time as professional manager at Maccabi Netanya, believing he could significantly develop under his guidance.

Maccabi Tel Aviv's agreement to lower Azu's potential purchase price to 1.2 million shekels suggests they do not see a long-term future for him. Beitar Jerusalem hopes Azu will emulate Yarin Levi, who flourished with them after not being utilized by Maccabi Haifa. The deal stipulates that if Azu plays 50% of his available minutes, Beitar will have the option to purchase 50% of his contract.

"Anyone who has trained with Azu understands the potential this kid has; he will help Beitar greatly, hopefully staying here for years to come," said club officials about the player who will wear jersey number 23. Meanwhile, Nana Antwi is expected to increase his training intensity on Sunday, aiming for fitness for the match against Maccabi Petah Tikva, where Jordan Cohen will remain sidelined. Luka Gadran will replace Liel Darai in central defense, and Adi Yona might see playing time after a long absence, as the team aims to maintain its positive momentum following a victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
