Beitar Jerusalem Nears Israeli Status for Eugene Ansah, Plans New Foreign Signing
Beitar Jerusalem is optimistic about completing the process to recognize striker Eugene Ansah as an Israeli player soon, which would free up a foreign player slot for additional recruitment. The club has been actively working to secure Ansah's citizenship or at least temporary residency, following unsuccessful attempts by M.S. Ashdod last year. Since Ansah's transfer to Beitar, several Knesset members and senior officials have been involved in facilitating the process.
The team recently concluded the first phase of their preseason training camp in Bulgaria with a 1-0 victory over Kosovo's Drenica, highlighted by a goal from young midfielder Daniel Vorko. Coach Almog Cohen expressed satisfaction with the players' fitness and discipline during the camp. Beitar plans to strengthen their squad by adding a foreign attacking midfielder once Ansah's status is resolved, relying on Boris Inyo as the senior defensive midfielder and Vorko as a backup option.
Additionally, the club aims to sign another foreign defender, preferably a left-footed player capable of playing both center-back and left-back to support Jordan Cohen, regardless of the recent signing of Nevo Shudo. Ahead of their upcoming match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, Beitar confirmed that Luka Gadrani and Tomer Yosefi will not participate, while Omer Atzili is expected to be fit to start. New signing Sean Weisman is gradually integrating into the team, with the club pleased with his connection to teammates both on and off the field.
