Beitar Jerusalem signs Eugene Ansah from Ashdod on two-year deal
Beitar Jerusalem announced on Monday that it has signed forward Eugene Ansah to a two-year contract, strengthening its attack ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 31-year-old Ghanaian becomes the club’s fourth signing of the summer and is set to join training under coach Almog Cohen, who identified him as a priority target back in January.
Ansah arrives after a strong individual season with M.S. Ashdod, even though the team was relegated. He scored nine goals and added seven assists, making him one of the most sought-after players in the Israeli market. He has also previously played in Israel for Hapoel Beersheba, Ironi Kiryat Shmona and Hapoel Ra’anana, a background Beitar believes will help him settle quickly at Teddy Stadium.
The move also ends Beitar’s pursuit of Shon Weissman. The club chose not to wait for the Israel national team striker, who had been hesitant about returning to Israel and was considering offers from Europe. Beitar wants to finalize its squad early so it can be ready for the Conference League qualifiers.
Ansah is expected to earn about 260,000 euros per season. He is also close to receiving Israeli citizenship in the coming months, which would make him more valuable to the club because he would not count against the foreign-player quota. After signing, Ansah said, “I am excited to get an opportunity at a great club like Beitar.”
