Veteran Striker Shon Weissman Signs Two-Year Deal with Beitar Jerusalem
Beitar Jerusalem officially announced the signing of experienced striker Shon Weissman on July 3, 2026. The 30-year-old forward returns to Israeli football after seven years playing in Europe, signing a two-year contract with an option for a third season. Weissman is Beitar's fifth summer signing following Daniel Vorko, Noam Motta, Tomer Yosefi, and Eugene Ansah. With Weissman's arrival, the club does not plan to sign another foreign striker and will rely on Weissman, Ansah, and captain Yarden Shua upfront.
Weissman began his youth career at Maccabi Haifa after moving from city rivals Hapoel Haifa at age 15. He debuted for Maccabi Haifa's senior team in January 2014 and won a youth double that season. He spent three seasons on loan at Hapoel Acre, Maccabi Netanya (helping them promote to the Premier League), and Hapoel Kfar Saba. Returning to Maccabi Haifa in 2018, Weissman scored seven goals before moving abroad in summer 2019.
In June 2019, Weissman signed with Austria's Wolfsberger AC, where he became the Austrian Bundesliga top scorer with 30 goals in one season, setting a record for an Israeli striker abroad. He then transferred to Spain's Real Valladolid for around four million euros, scoring 27 goals in 85 league appearances. Weissman also played for Granada, Italy's Salernitana, and Austria's Blau-Weiß Linz, scoring 10 goals in 29 appearances last season. His return to Israel marks a significant acquisition for Beitar Jerusalem ahead of the new season.
