Shon Weissman Nears Two-Year Deal with Beitar Jerusalem Amid Contract Gap

Shon Weissman, the striker who played this season in Austria, is close to signing a two-year contract with Beitar Jerusalem, including an option for a third year. The gap between the parties has narrowed to 80,000 euros, with both sides showing willingness to compromise. A source familiar with the negotiations said, "There is a desire on both sides. The gap can be bridged." If Weissman signs, Beitar plans to release a foreign striker and sign a quality midfielder instead, possibly replacing Ailson Tavares.

Weissman is a free agent after scoring nine goals in the Austrian league this season. His return to Israel would mark his first local league play since 2019. Meanwhile, Beitar Jerusalem is preparing for a friendly match against Bulgarian club Botev Vratsa on Friday at 18:00. The team has adjusted its preseason training schedule to include three daily sessions, starting as early as 6:30 a.m., following coach Almog Cohen's experience training in Germany.

Injured player Tomer Yosefi remains unfit and may miss the first of two upcoming matches against AEK Larnaca on July 23. Omri Atsili has increased his training intensity and is reintegrating with the squad. Beitar's next match after Botev Vratsa will be against another Bulgarian team, Arda.
