Shon Weissman Nears Two-Year Deal with Beitar Jerusalem as Gap Narrows

Shon Weissman is close to signing a two-year contract with Beitar Jerusalem, with an option for a third year, as the financial gap between the parties has narrowed to 80,000 euros. The club has agreed to Weissman's request for a two-year deal and now expects him to show flexibility as well. An insider involved in the negotiations said, "There is willingness on both sides. The gap can be bridged." If Weissman signs, Beitar Jerusalem plans to release a foreign striker and instead sign a quality midfielder, potentially replacing Ailson Tavares.

Weissman, a free agent after scoring nine goals in the Austrian league this season, would be returning to play in Israel for the first time since 2019. Meanwhile, Beitar Jerusalem is preparing for its upcoming matches, including a game against Bulgarian club Botev Vratsa scheduled for Friday at 18:00. The team has adjusted its preseason training schedule to include three sessions per day, starting as early as 6:30 a.m., following coach Almog Cohen's experience training in Germany.

Injured player Tomer Yosefi remains unavailable and might miss the first of two matches against AEK Larnaca on July 23. Meanwhile, Omer Atzili has intensified his training and is reintegrating with the squad. Beitar Jerusalem's next game after Botev Vratsa will be against another Bulgarian team, Arda.
