Beitar Jerusalem Signs Forward Sean Weisman on Two-Year Deal Ahead of New Season
Beitar Jerusalem officially announced the signing of Sean Weisman on Friday, securing the 30-year-old forward on a two-year contract with an option for a third season. Weisman, who spent the last seven years playing abroad, most recently scored nine goals in 27 appearances for Blau-Weiss Linz in Austria's top division. His contract is reportedly worth around 330,000 euros per season. He is expected to join Beitar's training camp in Bulgaria early next week.
The club described Weisman's signing as a significant statement of intent for the upcoming season, highlighting his quality, experience, leadership, and strong desire to succeed. Weisman expressed excitement about returning to Israel after a lengthy European career, emphasizing the pride of playing for Beitar Jerusalem in his home country and city. "I come hungry, committed, and excited to give my all on the pitch and represent the fans with pride," he said.
Beitar is currently training in Pravets, Bulgaria, under new coach Almog Cohen as they prepare for upcoming matches, including a Toto Cup game against Hapoel Tel Aviv and two Conference League qualifiers against AEK Larnaca. The club is also adjusting its roster strategy, ready to invest heavily in Weisman’s contract and potentially sign a foreign defensive midfielder to replace Ailson Tavares, as midfielder Dan Glazer is expected to move to Maccabi Tel Aviv or Maccabi Netanya.
Beitar will play its first training match of the camp against Bulgarian side Botev Vratsa on Friday evening. The club’s management and fans are optimistic that Weisman's return will boost the team’s performance and leadership on the field.
