Beitar Jerusalem is still preparing for next season, but the club’s attempt to sign striker Sean Weissman remains highly uncertain. Weissman, 30, finished the season with Austrian side Blau-Weiss Linz and is now deciding on his next move.
At this stage, Beitar does not even know whether Weissman wants to return and play in Israel. Even if he does, the club believes his demands are very high, both in salary and in contract length. Weissman is said to be asking for a three-year deal.
Beitar plans to wait a few more days to see whether Weissman is interested in coming back. For now, the transfer is far from guaranteed. If Weissman chooses not to return, the coaching staff may try to bring in a foreign striker instead, and in that scenario the club would also advance talks with Dan Glazer.
Another foreign player nearing the exit is midfielder Ailson Tavares. The 27-year-old is under contract for next season, but the club has already decided to release him. Beitar has put him up for sale abroad, though so far he is drawing interest in Israel. Tavares, along with Jonbosco Kalu, Boris Ino, Nana Antwi and Eugene Ansa, are currently in Israel, while the rest of the foreign players are expected to return to the country this week.
