Israeli Police Officer Walter Cogan Recalls Locating Missing Sisters in Argentina

Deputy Superintendent Walter Alejandro Cogan, Israel Police representative in South America, detailed his role in locating missing sisters Mali and Liel Yahalomi in Argentina. Cogan's voice was heard in the footage released by Israeli police showing the moment of the sisters' discovery. He described coordinating with Argentine police and Interpol as part of an international law enforcement effort under Israel Police's Intelligence Division.

Cogan explained that Israeli police representatives worldwide collaborate with local agencies to combat crime and resolve cases swiftly, including missing persons. Upon learning the sisters were traveling outside Buenos Aires, he traveled operationally with Argentine and Interpol officers to find them. Upon arrival, he identified himself to the sisters, confirmed their safety, and ensured no criminal offenses had occurred.

Additional forces supported the operation, coordinated by the Intelligence Division's operational department. Cogan emphasized the positive outcome, stating, "In the end, a good ending is what matters." Previously a senior investigator in Arad, Cogan was promoted to Deputy Superintendent and appointed Israel Police's South America representative. In the footage, he introduced himself to Mali and Liel and requested a private conversation to ask questions, expressing concern for their wellbeing.
