Israeli Mother and Daughter Planned Disappearance Using AI and App Deletions, Found in Argentina

New details have emerged in the investigation of the disappearance of Mally and Liel Yahalomi. A cellphone conversation between the mother and daughter revealed that Liel joined her mother’s escape plan willingly, stating, "I will go with you anywhere." This confirms the disappearance was planned and consensual, not forced.

The investigation uncovered that both erased apps from their phones and used the AI app "Gemini" to plan their route, aiming to evade tracking. Authorities believe Mally had previously traveled abroad to prepare for the escape. Police suspect possible external guidance but are still investigating.

Two operational command centers were established, one in Vienna and another in Israel under Lahav 433, involving hundreds of investigators and intelligence personnel. Security footage showed the pair leaving their Vienna apartment alone with all personal belongings. Background checks found no signs of family violence or threats; the mother worked at Bank of Jerusalem and had withdrawn about 50,000 shekels in cash before leaving, indicating a planned long-term disappearance.

The escape route included Vienna, chosen for its major train junction, then Frankfurt, where they sent fake location videos to family to mislead them. Ultimately, they reached Argentina, where Israeli police located them. An Israeli agent traveling from Mexico arrived shortly after their landing. The pair planned to move within 20 hours to an undisclosed location known for easy access to forged passports.

Investigators are also examining the grandmother’s involvement, as the mother reportedly took money from her, suggesting possible knowledge or assistance. The mother has little contact with her ex-husband, the children’s father. The Israeli embassy has issued a statement regarding the case.
