Walter Alejandro Cogan, an Israeli police officer formerly stationed in Arad, has become a social media sensation after locating Israeli mother Mally and her daughter Liel on a bus in Argentina. Cogan, who introduced himself as a representative of the South American police and the Israeli Police Intelligence Division, was the first to speak with the pair following their disappearance. After an initial interrogation and confirming no criminal suspicions, Mally and Liel were released and reported to be in good physical and mental health.

New details emerged about the escape plan the mother and daughter had been executing for over a month. Their strategy involved consulting AI search engines to find ways to purchase phones without ID, identifying South American countries without extradition agreements with Israel, and deleting apps from their phones to avoid tracking. Prior to arriving in Argentina, they traveled by train from Vienna to Germany and then flew to Argentina.
