Israeli Police Representative Walter Kogan Locates Missing Israeli Mother and Daughter in Argentina

Mali and Liel Yahalomi, a mother and daughter who had been missing for a week, were found safe in South America, specifically Argentina, following a multinational police operation. The search spanned several countries and continents after investigators concluded their disappearance was premeditated before leaving Israel. The police suspect their disappearance was linked to debts rather than threats, extortion, or terrorism, which were initially considered.

Central to the operation was Deputy Superintendent Walter Alejandro Kogan, the Israeli police representative in Latin America. Previously serving as an intelligence and investigations officer at the Arad police station in Israel, Kogan relocated to South America with his family upon his appointment. His role is to facilitate cooperation between Israeli police and local law enforcement in the region.

Kogan personally boarded the bus carrying Mali and Liel, introduced himself, and confirmed their well-being. Since the two women are adults and no criminal activity is suspected, they were released to continue their journey. The Israeli Intelligence Division, responsible for counterterrorism and criminal intelligence, oversees such international police collaborations and coordinates with Interpol.
