Israeli Police Take Over Investigation Into Missing Mother and Daughter in Vienna

The investigation into the disappearance of Israeli citizens Mali and Liel Yahalomi in Vienna has been transferred to the Lahav 433 unit, with police representatives dispatched to Austria to assist in the search. The mother and daughter lost contact on the evening of Friday, August 7, after maintaining continuous communication throughout their trip. Phone tracking indicated they were near a train station and a large park in Vienna on Saturday, but there has been no sign of their location or credit card activity since August 3.

Following media coverage, the Yahalomi family provided testimony to Lahav 433 and expressed strong anger over information released in the police's name. The family stated that some details were withheld from them and contradicted what they knew, emphasizing that, contrary to police statements, the possibility of a nationalistic terrorist incident cannot be ruled out at this stage.

Reuven Shadur, a member of the search delegation in Vienna, told Ran Ben-Yamini on the "This Morning" program on Kan 11 that they are trying to reconstruct the initial picture of the women's activities and whereabouts. He said progress was made recently but the case remains complex and unclear, with all possibilities being examined. Shadur stressed that from the family's perspective, the women are in life-threatening danger due to the prolonged disappearance.
