West Ham Signs Israeli Midfielder Manor Solomon to Boost Championship Promotion Bid

Israeli midfielder Manor Solomon has officially joined West Ham United, the English club recently relegated to the Championship, aiming to help them return to the Premier League. Solomon, who impressed during Tottenham's preseason matches, was purchased for around 5 million pounds plus 2 million in bonuses and signed a contract until 2029 with an option for an additional year.

Solomon spent the past two seasons on loan from Tottenham to Leeds United, Villarreal, and Fiorentina. His most successful period was with Leeds in the 2024-25 season, where he scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists, helping Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League. However, Leeds could not afford to sign him permanently. His subsequent loans to Villarreal and Fiorentina were less impactful, leading to his return to the English second tier, a league he excels in.

Despite good preseason performances for Tottenham, new manager Roberto De Zerbi did not include Solomon in his plans for the upcoming season. Solomon is not expected to feature in West Ham's first Championship match but may appear from the bench in the second round. He is set to earn about 2 million pounds this season, with potential increases if West Ham achieves promotion.

West Ham has a history of Israeli players, including Yossi Benayoun, Eyal Berkovic, Tal Ben Haim, and Yaniv Katan. Solomon becomes the fifth Israeli to play for the club and aims to contribute significantly to restoring West Ham's status in English football.
