Manor Solomon Takes Iconic No. 10 Shirt at West Ham Ahead of Championship Campaign

West Ham United officially unveiled Manor Solomon on Monday after signing the 27-year-old Israeli international from Tottenham Hotspur on a three-year deal worth an initial £5 million, potentially rising to £7 million. Solomon was seen at West Ham's stadium wearing the prestigious number 10 shirt, a number historically worn by club legends and key playmakers. The last player to wear the No. 10 at West Ham was Brazilian international Lucas Paquetá, who transferred to Flamengo in January. Previous notable wearers include Argentine stars Manuel Lanzini and Mauro Zarate, as well as Craig Bellamy, Paulo Di Canio, and John Hartson. The most famous No. 10 in West Ham history is England legend Geoff Hurst, who scored a World Cup final hat-trick in 1966.

In the 2023/24 season, Solomon impressed at Leeds United in the English Championship, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists, helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League. His career also includes spells at Fulham, Tottenham, Shakhtar Donetsk, Villarreal, and Fiorentina. West Ham, managed by Nuno Espírito Santo, began their season with a 3-1 victory over Portsmouth in the first round of the League Cup. They will open their Championship campaign next Sunday away at Burnley, with both teams recently relegated from the Premier League.

Despite selling star players Matheus Fernandes to Tottenham for €99 million and Dutch international Krépin Diatta to Al-Hilal for €64 million during the summer, West Ham remain strong contenders for promotion.
