Maccabi Tel Aviv Nears Deal to Sell Striker Sayid Abu Farhi to Colorado Rapids

Maccabi Tel Aviv is close to finalizing a transfer deal for striker Sayid Abu Farhi to the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, with negotiations potentially concluding today. Although Abu Farhi has yet to agree on personal terms with the American club, he is expected to do so once the clubs finalize the agreement. Colorado has offered $6 million for the player, but Maccabi is seeking a higher fee. To bridge the gap, additional bonuses tied to goals and achievements may be included in the deal.

Abu Farhi's family is set to sell their 17.5 percent stake in the player's rights to Colorado. Maccabi Tel Aviv will retain 25 percent of any future transfer fee for Abu Farhi. The striker has become a key figure for Maccabi, especially last season when he took over the attack following Yon Nicolesco's injury. This season, Abu Farhi has already scored four goals in four matches, including braces against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Champion of Champions match and a 5-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol in the Conference League qualifiers.

This transfer marks another potential exit from Maccabi Tel Aviv as the club continues to reshape its squad. The deal reflects ongoing interest from MLS clubs in Israeli talent and could be completed imminently pending final agreements.
