Maccabi Tel Aviv Nears Sale of Said Abu Farhi to Colorado Rapids in Deal Similar to Dor Turgeman Transfer

Negotiations continue between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Colorado Rapids over the sale of striker Said Abu Farhi. Earlier reports indicated that Colorado offered $6 million for Abu Farhi, while Maccabi demands $8 million. Discussions are ongoing, and Walla Sports has learned that the deal may follow the structure of Dor Turgeman's transfer to New England Revolution last year.

Turgeman was sold for $6 million upfront, with an additional $1 million in performance bonuses tied to goal-scoring milestones and 25% of any future transfer fee. Specifically, Maccabi would receive $500,000 each time Turgeman scores 10 goals in a season, and $1 million if he scores 15 goals in a single season. This arrangement allows Maccabi to earn up to $1 million extra if Turgeman meets these targets over one or two seasons.

It is likely that Abu Farhi's transfer will mirror this model, with Colorado paying $6 million initially plus up to $1 million in bonuses. This structure could bridge the gap between the clubs' valuation differences and finalize the transfer.

The deal, if completed, would mark another significant sale for Maccabi Tel Aviv, following Turgeman's successful move to MLS. Both clubs remain engaged in talks to reach a final agreement soon.
