Four-Year-Old Israeli Boy Drowns in Mexico During Family Vacation

A four-year-old boy from Jerusalem drowned over the weekend in a swimming pool in San Jose del Cabo, located in southern Baja California, Mexico, while vacationing with his family. ZAKA, the Israeli emergency response organization, reported that local Mexican authorities requested an autopsy, which was ultimately not performed, and the body was released. Upon receiving the report, ZAKA immediately began coordinating with Mexican authorities and relevant parties to assist the family and facilitate the necessary procedures. ZAKA's international unit is actively working to complete the required formalities and arrange for the boy's body to be returned to Israel for burial as soon as possible. Yossi Landau, ZAKA commander for the Lachish region, stated, "From the moment we received the report, we have been supporting the family and assisting them in every way. After the autopsy was denied and the body released, we are now working with the relevant Mexican authorities to finalize the procedures and bring him back to Israel promptly." This tragic incident follows recent drownings involving Israelis abroad, including a 35-year-old man who drowned last week at a beach in Limassol, Cyprus, and a two-year-old Israeli toddler who drowned last month in a hotel pool in Sharm El-Sheikh, Sinai, Egypt, where she later died in hospital.
