Lawyer Arbel Feldman Identified as Victim in Rishon Lezion Murder Case

The family of lawyer Arbel Feldman confirmed on August 5, 2026, that he was the victim murdered in his Rishon Lezion office the previous day. Feldman left behind a wife and three children, and his family expressed shock over the incident. The police intend to request a 15-day extension of the suspect's detention.

The suspect, a man in his 30s from Ramla, admitted to the killing during police questioning. He claimed Feldman owed him 15,000 shekels related to a compensation case following a car accident in October 2019. The suspect said he had been pursuing Feldman for three years and decided to confront him with a gun, shooting him after a brief exchange. He refused to disclose the source of the firearm. After the shooting, the suspect reportedly walked from Rishon Lezion to Ashdod through fields.

Sources close to the suspect revealed that his family had tried unsuccessfully to have him admitted to a psychiatric institution due to mental health issues. He was also considered for service in the Border Police but was disqualified for mental health reasons. They expressed regret over the murder, stating it should never have happened.

Feldman's law partner recounted hearing a brief conversation before gunshots erupted in the office. He described Feldman as a kind, modest man devoted to his family, who was planning an overseas vacation with his wife and children the following week. The partner immediately called emergency services upon discovering Feldman wounded under his desk.

The police continue their investigation as they prepare to extend the suspect's detention period while the community mourns the loss of a respected lawyer and family man.
