IDF Destroys Hezbollah Terror Tunnel in South Lebanon Using 700 Tons of Explosives

Under the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed a major Hezbollah terror tunnel in the Bofor area of southern Lebanon on Thursday night. The underground tunnel was a key part of Hezbollah's planned invasion strategy targeting Israeli communities in the Galilee region. Approximately 700 tons of explosives were used to demolish the tunnel as part of the IDF's systematic campaign to eliminate Hezbollah's terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon.

This operation followed a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah, which launched an explosive drone attack against an IDF engineering vehicle near the Ali Taher ridge in the Israeli security zone in southern Lebanon. The Israeli government issued a joint statement from Netanyahu and Katz emphasizing that Israel will not tolerate any breach of the ceasefire and will respond forcefully to any attempt by Hezbollah to harm Israeli forces or civilians.

The IDF confirmed it will maintain its presence in the security zone and continue destroying terror infrastructure to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its capabilities. During the operation, the IDF discovered an underground shaft containing dozens of weapons. The military stressed its commitment to removing all threats to its forces and Israeli civilians.

The destruction of the tunnel sends a clear message to Hezbollah that Israel will not accept attacks on its military or citizens. The IDF continues to conduct intensive searches in southern Lebanon to locate and neutralize additional hidden weapons caches.
