IDF Destroys Hezbollah Terror Tunnels in Bofor Using 700 Tons of Explosives

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed key sections of Hezbollah's underground tunnel network in the Bofor ridge area of southern Lebanon shortly after midnight on Friday. The operation, carried out by Division 36 under Northern Command, involved detonating approximately 700 tons of explosives to demolish the strategic terror infrastructure. According to the IDF, the tunnel complex served as a central command post for Hezbollah's Badr unit, funded and designed by Iran over nearly two decades. Located about six kilometers from the Israeli town of Metula, the underground facility was used to coordinate attacks, including launching drones, anti-tank missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles toward Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a joint statement describing the tunnels as a critical part of Hezbollah's planned invasion of Galilee communities. They said the operation was a response to blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah and warned that Israel would respond forcefully to any attacks against its forces or civilians. The IDF noted that in recent weeks, troops had secured control over the Bofor ridge area, cleared the underground infrastructure, and prepared it for destruction. Operations continue in the nearby Ali Taher ridge area with high readiness for both offensive and defensive actions. The IDF reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement while maintaining efforts to neutralize threats to its forces.
