IDF Reinforces Forces and Launches Wide Operations in West Bank Amid Rising Violence
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is preparing for an escalation of violence in the West Bank following three severe attacks within the past 24 hours and concerns over potential copycat attacks and nationalist crimes by Israelis. The Operations Branch at IDF headquarters decided to reinforce the area with an additional combat battalion. The recent attacks occurred after a tense period marked by numerous alerts, alongside a series of large-scale arson incidents that have intensified friction between Israelis and Palestinians, particularly around the settlement area known as the Havat region.
The IDF fears further attacks targeting both soldiers and Israeli civilians. Footage recently released shows a large group of masked settlers running toward the Palestinian village of Jatt just hours after a stabbing attack near Havat Gilad in the northern West Bank. The stabbing took place near the site of an arson attack in the Havat Derech Avraham area close to Elon Moreh.
In the coming hours, a broad operation involving all regional brigades is set to begin, focusing on arresting suspects wanted for investigation and conducting activities in friction zones. The main focus will be the city of Nablus (Shechem) and the entire Samaria region. Security officials warn that the stabbing attack, in which Itamar Cohen was seriously injured and who is considered a local symbol, could trigger nationalist crimes against Palestinians. The IDF, Border Police, and Israeli Police are preparing for this possibility as well.
