IDF Central Command Chief Warns of Potential Escalation Across West Bank After Deadly Attack

Major General Avi Blot, commander of the IDF Central Command, held a meeting with settlement leaders on Friday morning following a deadly attack near the village of Tal in the Samaria region, where two people were killed. Blot warned of a possible escalation throughout the West Bank and emphasized that Israeli forces are preparing for significant counterterrorism operations. "We have had a difficult morning," Blot said, noting his visit to the Malt family in the Gilad farm and extending condolences to the Ezra family. He recounted recent tense days marked by the burning of 30 homes, an arson attack in the village of Furik, and multiple stabbing incidents culminating in the killing of four terrorists, including the shooter, with the stolen weapon recovered by the IDF.

Blot stated that additional arrests are planned and that the IDF is conducting offensive operations to prevent further flare-ups, using all available means. He also mentioned preparations for potential copycat attacks. Units from the Judea and Samaria Division have been mobilized for extensive counterterrorism activities aimed at arresting all suspects involved in the recent attack. Blot stressed that the security of residents remains the highest priority and that forces are acting decisively and with operational aggression to prevent further incidents and restore calm in the region.
