IDF Deploys Extensive Reinforcements in West Bank After Shooting Attack Near Givat Gilad

Following a shooting attack earlier on Friday near Givat Gilad, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have significantly increased their military presence in the West Bank. The reinforcements include five additional companies, comprising a reconnaissance company from the Nahal Brigade, two companies from the General Staff Commando Training Base (Unit 35), and two companies from the Commando School (Units 212 and 621). These new forces join previously deployed units, including two battalions stationed permanently in the area over the past two weeks and an additional commando company (Unit 217) added last weekend.

The shooting victim was identified as Benyahu Malat, 32, a resident of Givat Gilad, a member of the local security team, and the agricultural manager of the settlement. Malat was killed while assisting a group of hikers who were attacked nearby, during rescue and defense efforts.

The IDF's bolstered deployment aims to enhance security and prevent further attacks in the region. The reinforcements are part of an ongoing effort to expand military presence in the West Bank amid rising tensions. The military continues to monitor the situation closely and adjust its operational posture accordingly.
