IDF and Shin Bet Kill Hamas Gaza City Battalion Commander Behind October 7 Attack and Hostage Taking

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet announced on Tuesday that they killed Adham Ibrahim Shaaban Nesman, the head of operations for Hamas's Gaza City Brigade, during a strike in the Gaza City area over the past weekend. Nesman commanded the Nohevah Battalion and orchestrated the October 7 attack from Gaza into Israeli territory. He was also involved in holding numerous Israeli hostages during the conflict, including Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, Ziv and Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Matan Angrist, and Omri Miran.

Emily Damari, one of the surviving hostages, responded to Nesman's death on Instagram, describing him as a key and ruthless figure who communicated with other Hamas leaders like Sinwar and Az al-Din al-Haddad during captivity. She expressed hope that more such militants would be eliminated and praised Israel.

The IDF and Shin Bet detailed that Nesman held various roles within Hamas, including intelligence officer for the Gaza City Brigade and commander of the Shati Battalion. He was responsible for planning and executing numerous terror attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Recently, he worked to train militants, produce, and distribute weapons to rebuild Hamas's military capabilities, violating ceasefire agreements.

The IDF Southern Command stated that its forces remain deployed in the area according to the ceasefire agreement and will continue operations to neutralize immediate threats to Israel.
