IDF and Shin Bet Kill Senior Hamas Terrorist Involved in Hostage Holding and Propaganda
Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet forces killed Anas Mahmoud Ahmad Hamdan, a senior Hamas terrorist commander, in an operation in the Khan Yunis area of Gaza. Hamdan was a key figure in holding Israeli hostages in Gaza and managing their return process. He also led Hamas propaganda efforts in the Khan Yunis brigade.
Hamdan served as the right-hand man to senior military wing leaders Mohammed Deif and Raed Salama for years, including during the current conflict. He was directly involved in hostage management throughout the war and documented hostages during release ceremonies. Before the war, he was involved in holding Israeli captive Avera Mengistu. Recently, Hamdan was training militants and planning terror attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians.
The targeted killing was carried out by precise aerial strikes, eliminating a significant threat to Israeli forces operating in Gaza. The IDF described the operation as an important closure against a terrorist involved in planning and securing Hamas leaders responsible for the October 7 massacre. Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area under current agreements and will continue efforts to neutralize immediate threats.
This operation highlights ongoing Israeli efforts to dismantle Hamas leadership and protect Israeli civilians amid the ongoing conflict.
