IDF Kills Senior Hamas Commander Behind October 7 Gaza Raid and Hostage Taking

Adham Ibrahim Shaaban Nasman, the head of operations for Hamas's Gaza City Brigade, was killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza City. Nasman commanded the October 7 attack into Israel and was involved in holding multiple Israeli hostages. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet announced the operation over the weekend, confirming Nasman's death and detailing his key role in orchestrating terror attacks against Israel.

Nasman had served as the commander of Hamas's elite Nukhba battalion and held various leadership positions, including intelligence officer and commander of the Shati battalion. During the recent conflict, he was responsible for training militants, producing and distributing weapons, and rebuilding Hamas's military capabilities, violating the ceasefire agreement.

Among the hostages held by Hamas were Israelis Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, Ziv and Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Matan Angrist, and Omri Miran. Emily Damari, a survivor of captivity, described Nasman, known as Sheikh Ibrahim, as a central and serious figure in Hamas's hierarchy. She recounted overhearing his phone conversations with other senior Hamas leaders and expressed hope that he and his associates would face justice.

The IDF and Shin Bet emphasized that Nasman was responsible for numerous terror operations against Israeli forces and civilians. His elimination is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas's operational capabilities in Gaza.
