IDF Kills Senior Hamas Commander Behind October 7 Terror Attack in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday the targeted killing of Fadi Falah Ashour Da'mash, a senior Hamas commander responsible for training the Nukhba terror unit that carried out the deadly October 7 massacre. Da'mash, who led the military wing's training department, was eliminated in a precise airstrike in northern Gaza overnight. He was instrumental in preparing the Nukhba fighters who attacked Israeli communities near Gaza, killing hundreds of civilians, and also played a key role in directing combat against IDF forces during the ongoing conflict.
According to the IDF spokesperson, Da'mash recently worked systematically to advance additional terror plans in Gaza, aiming to restore Hamas's operational capabilities and posing a direct threat to Israeli troops. His killing is part of a series of recent IDF operations targeting senior terror commanders in the Gaza Strip. Last week, the IDF reported the elimination of two other senior militants, Muhammad Naguib Ashour and Tamer Said Abu Nahl, who were involved in planning attacks against Israeli forces.
This strike comes amid an extensive IDF campaign in Gaza focused on destroying Hamas's underground tunnel networks, with over a kilometer of tunnels neutralized in recent weeks. The IDF also destroyed four rocket launch sites established by terror groups after the ceasefire took effect, which were prepared for attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. The IDF Southern Command emphasized that its forces remain deployed according to the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act to eliminate any immediate threats to Israeli security and civilians.
