Maccabi Haifa Signs Israeli Goalkeeper Omri Glazer for Three Years

Maccabi Haifa announced on Monday the signing of Israeli national team goalkeeper Omri Glazer to a three-year contract, pending medical examinations. The club agreed to pay Red Star Belgrade 250,000 euros for the transfer, after initially hoping for a free transfer. Glazer will earn 400,000 euros per season, making him one of the highest-paid players under coach Barak Bachar. Glazer previously played for Maccabi Haifa from 2016 to 2021, appearing in 57 league matches.

The transfer negotiations reflected Red Star's awareness of Maccabi Haifa's financial situation, leading them to insist on compensation. After the club's management accepted this, the deal was finalized. In parallel, Maccabi Haifa is close to agreeing on a three million euro transfer fee with Metalist Kharkiv for Georgi Yermakov, with both sides exchanging contract drafts.

Following these acquisitions, Haifa plans to address the backup goalkeeper position. Sharif Kiyof is awaiting approval for a loan move to Hapoel Ramat Gan. Additionally, the club is initiating official talks to sign Omri Nir'on, goalkeeper of Maccabi Netanya, who may join after Netanya signed a foreign goalkeeper and extended Niv Antman’s contract.

Separately, the fan organization "The Green Monkeys" announced that after discussions with relevant parties during the break, the issue of supporter equipment for home games has been resolved. They hope this solution will be permanent, allowing the upcoming season to start with full supporter gear, restoring the northern stand to its proper appearance at every Maccabi Haifa home match.
