Israeli Goalkeeper Omri Glazer Returns to Maccabi Haifa with Highest Israeli Salary

Maccabi Haifa announced on July 21, 2026, the signing of Israeli national team goalkeeper Omri Glazer for a three-year contract, marking his second tenure with the club. Glazer is expected to replace Georgi Yermakov as the starting goalkeeper and reunite with coach Barak Bachar. The deal, pending medical tests, makes Glazer one of the highest-paid players at Maccabi Haifa, with a base salary of 400,000 euros and potential bonuses raising it to 500,000 euros, the highest for an Israeli player at the club.

To secure Glazer's transfer from Red Star Belgrade, Maccabi Haifa paid a 300,000-euro fee. Glazer, who began his career at Hapoel Ra'anana, joined Maccabi Haifa at age 20 in 2016 but mainly served as a backup goalkeeper until 2021. He was loaned to Sektzia Ness Ziona for one season before making a breakthrough at Hapoel Be'er Sheva from 2021 to 2023, helping them win the State Cup and qualify for the UEFA Conference League group stage.

In summer 2023, Glazer signed with Red Star Belgrade, becoming their first-choice goalkeeper and playing under coach Barak Bachar. However, in his second season, he lost his starting position and appeared in only seven matches across all competitions. During his time in Serbia, Glazer made 51 league appearances with 22 clean sheets, contributed to three league titles, and played nine UEFA Champions League games, including a notable match against Manchester City in September 2023 where he made 13 saves despite a 3-1 loss.
