Omri Glazer Returns to Maccabi Haifa as New Starting Goalkeeper

Maccabi Haifa officially announced on July 20, 2026, that they have signed goalkeeper Omri Glazer to a three-year contract, marking his second tenure with the club. Glazer, who will replace Georgi Yermakov as the starting goalkeeper, is expected to join the team after passing medical tests and will immediately integrate into the squad under coach Barak Bachar.

The club paid 300,000 euros to secure Glazer's release from Red Star Belgrade, where he played since summer 2023. His contract with Maccabi Haifa includes a salary of 400,000 euros plus bonuses, making him one of the highest-paid players at the club. Glazer began his career at Hapoel Ra'anana and first joined Maccabi Haifa at age 20, primarily serving as a backup goalkeeper from 2016 to 2021. He was loaned to Sektzia Nes Tziona for one season before making a breakthrough at Hapoel Be'er Sheva between 2021 and 2023, helping the team win the State Cup and qualify for the UEFA Conference League group stage.

At Red Star Belgrade, Glazer was the first-choice goalkeeper during his first season, playing in the UEFA Champions League and reuniting with coach Barak Bachar. However, in his second season, he lost his starting position and appeared in only seven matches across all competitions. Over two seasons in the Serbian league, he made 51 appearances with 22 clean sheets and contributed to three league titles. In the Champions League, he played nine games, conceding 24 goals, including a notable performance with 13 saves in a 3-1 loss to Manchester City in September 2023.
