IDF Says It Killed Hezbollah Operatives After Spotting Threats in Security Zone
Despite the ceasefire, IDF forces in southern Lebanon identified Hezbollah militants on Thursday who they said posed a threat to troops operating inside the security zone. Fighters from the Golani Brigade combat team under the 36th Division spotted five Hezbollah operatives in Zoutar al-Sharqiya.
In a separate incident, troops from the Commando Brigade combat team operating on the Ali Tahar ridge identified one armed Hezbollah operative who also threatened Israeli forces in the area. The IDF said that immediately after the sightings, the Air Force struck and ground forces fired at the militants, killing them to remove the threat.
The army said its forces are continuing to operate on the Ali Tahar ridge and are preventing Hezbollah fighters from leaving underground infrastructure or moving within the ridge area. The article notes the incidents took place on Thursday, during the ceasefire period.
